Parish Quiet Day

Date: Saturday 4th March, 10am - 4pm
Venue: The Orchard, St. Margaret's Chipstead.

At some point in our lives we inevitably face situations that challenge us, which may result in a welcome or unwelcome change to our lifestyle. The quiet day at the beginning of Lent aims to focus on how we can deal with these changes when they occur. Our relationship to God is unique to each of us; the day therefore will introduce a ‘toolbox’ of prayer, which offers alternative ways to pray. This toolbox enables us to recognise what forms of prayer are effective at different stages of our lives in order that we can hand over to God things that we feel unsure or uncomfortable about, rather than looking to ourselves for answers.

Prayer is the fundamental way in which we can come close to God, but more often than not, it is easier said than done! Throughout Jesus’s ministry, he regularly withdrew to pray with God especially in times of difficulty. This quiet day offers a chance to follow Jesus’ example, to withdraw and take time out from the hustle and bustle of life to connect with God.

If you are interested in joining us for the quiet day, please complete the sign up form at the back of the church or email Rev'd Anna Moore and advise whether you will need, or are able to provide transport for others.
